Student Success

Advance Student Success: Complete Goal Statement

As a celebrated diversity serving public research university, UC Santa Cruz is committed to student success of all our students as reflected by the “Five for 2015” Goals. Our undergraduate graduation rates and graduate degree numbers remain below the UC mean. In order to close this gap, we must take a holistic approach to student experience that includes thriving colleges, cultural competencies that link students of diverse backgrounds to faculty, staff, fellow students, and identifies and engages at risk students early in their academic career. In order to improve retention, graduation, and time to degree success, and to prepare graduate students as they become the next generation of transformative scholars, we will enhance and raise the campus profile of our student academic success and mentoring programs. We will deepen each student’s sense of belonging within the campus community and promote pride in our Banana Slug camaraderie by expanding destinations where students can gather, relate to one another, build community and learn together.
