Academic Planning

Allocate Faculty Resources Strategically: Complete Goal Statement

UC Santa Cruz has built strengths through its faculty and their commitment to our students and to the excellence of their research.  Core strengths and values pervade their commitment - diversity, social justice, sustainability, communities of learning, and community partnerships.  Our campus’ academic framework is greater than the sum of the separate departments and divisions due to the highly collaborative aspects of our research and academic programs.  As we move forward, we must use all faculty FTE resources strategically whether they are new or replacement. Our academic resource planning process must revitalize existing academic strengths while developing programs that grow and enhance our research portfolio, support graduate growth, maintain our dedication to undergraduate education, and demonstrate our commitment to recruiting and promoting faculty of diverse backgrounds. Our process must be transparent and rational, and incorporate input from faculty, Deans, and the Senate.
