Future State Design

Timeline: March 2018

Future State Design will entail a series of workshops with campus groups to determine the academic themes that make us unique and on which we should build. It will also have us tallying the resources, institutional structures, organizational capacities needed to successfully develop these academic themes.

During this phase, we will also develop, categorize, and prioritize a list of assumptions (e.g., resources, institutional needs, structural changes, organizational capacity) that must be true in order to achieve the desired future state.

  • Complete environmental scan of our current academic profile
  • Engage a range of campus stakeholders in group conversations on what UC Santa Cruz could become
  • Host a series of workshops to refine the most promising and plausible ideas for academic development
  • Produce a report (Future Brief) that outlines a series of academic priority areas that the campus community wishes to see developed
