Campus Landscape Analysis

Timeline: November 2017 – February 2018

This first phase of the project is designed to document our current state and begin to think about our challenges and opportunities.

During this phase, we will conduct an analysis of campus priorities, goals, and motivations to inform the direction and development of the academic strategic plan.


  • One-on-one interviews with campus leaders (Deans, VPs, VCs, Chairs) on UC Santa Cruz’s strengths and challenges
  • Online survey of faculty on academic priorities and challenges
  • Solicit feedback on resource generation from Deans, Senate, Chairs, and faculty
  • Solicit feedback on structural barriers to research and teaching from Deans, Senate, Chairs, college Provosts, Staff Advisory Board, and faculty
  • Interviews with student leaders on academic priorities and barriers to learning
